WORK
PREPAREDNESS-JOB SKILL TRAINING
The Leaf, Loaf & Ladle ‘Work Preparedness-Job Skill
Training Program’ is designed to teach fundamental employment
tools utilizing the kitchen environment. It is a food-service
based training program that combines hands-on commercial kitchen
training with individual case management and job placement
services. The program works with trainees individually, moving
them towards successful reentry into the community and employment
as a step towards financial independence for themselves and
their families.
Expectations of Enrollment
In order to evaluate whether or not this
program is right for you, the following list of expectations
are for you to consider and discuss with us.
Do these describe you and your willingness to commit?
___
Have a strong interest in the food service industry;
___ Willingness to commit to daily attendance and full work
schedule;
___ Able and willing to commit to a 12 week program, potentially
six hours daily;
___ Willingness to work with an employment case manager
on a weekly basis;
___ Willingness to learn new skills;
___ Willingness to recognize and take direction from your
instructor and accept feedback;
___ Recognition of good personal hygiene and food safety
handling;
___ Recognition of the importance and need for a safe, positive
learning environment;
___ Willingness to address barriers to success when an issue
arises and acceptance of outside resources if needed;
___ Willingness to participate and apply yourself with ‘hand’s-on’
training beyond classroom training;
___ Willingness to be placed in on the job training scenarios
representing the Leaf, Loaf & Ladle program at RCIL.
___
Understanding that the expectation after training is to
seek and secure full time or part-time employment;
The
Leaf, Loaf & Ladle job skill training program offers
the opportunity to gain a direct skill set in food handling
and preparation, leading to employment in the growing job
market of food services. We are committed to working with
individuals in this program not only to teach direct food
service employment skills but to assist you in job placement;
therefore your return commitment is the most important value
you need to bring with you.
